Gouache in jewelry

Gouache is a water-based paint that has been used for centuries by artists to create works of art.

works of art. It originated in China, where it was used as early as the 8th century to create paintings on paper. It then spread to Europe in the 15th century, where it was used to decorate manuscripts and books. Over time, gouache became a popular painting technique for artists, due to its ease of use, opaque coverage and bright colours. Gouache was also used for murals and frescoes, particularly artists of the Italian Renaissance. In the 19th century, gouache was used to create portraits, miniatures, posters and fashion illustrations.

In jewellery, gouache is used to create three-dimensional jewellery models. Jewellery designers use gouache to create detailed drawings of their creations, using colours to indicate different materials and finishes. These drawings are then used to create wax models or metal models of the finished jewellery. This type of drawing is called gouaché.
